Oh heyyy. Sorry i haven’t updated my blog in a minute. It’s been a crazy couple of weeks, but in this post I want to talk to you about my trip to Ireland. I’ve always wanted to go there and talked about going there in the beginning of this semester with my friend Arie, but never thought I’d actually go. Lucky for me I had a 5 day weekend (April 27th-May 1st) so Sam, Hannah, Arie, Kait, and I decided to head to Ireland.

On Friday we flew out of Budapest and arrived in Dublin, Ireland around 7:30 PM, hopped on a bus and went to Abraham Hostel, the hostel we were staying at. We stayed in pretty much the heart of Dublin near Trinity college and the famous Temple Bar. I had been in Ireland for 30 min and already heard a ton of Irish accents. Our hostel room was a room with 10 girls so we were meeting new girls everyday. I got to sleep top bunk WOOO. haha The first night we just chilled and explored the city a little bit and went to a pub in the Temple Bar, which i may add is an area. There is a Temple Bar but the area consist of a bunch of pubs and clubs. The next day we went of on a free walking tour of Ireland which was pretty awesome. The only sucky part was the weather…so colddddd. Our tour guides name was Kiel (Kyle) and he took us to Dublin’s Medieval Walls, Christ Church Cathedral, Temple Bar, the Dublin Castle, City Hall, the Vikings Remains, the Adam and Eve church, Trinity College, gardens, and other cool spots in the city of Dublin. After the tour we ate a real Irish meal consisting of fish and chips, irish bacon, potatoes, veggies, and some type of bread. That day we also decided to do some souvenir shopping then go back to the Temple bar that night.

Not sure why Heineken is so popular over here but it is. (For you Mom)

On Sunday we left Dublin in the cold and rain and headed to the Wicklow Mountains. This was another tour about 2 hours away from Dublin. The view was pretty wonderful. There was real grass (I don’t usually see this in Budapest), mountains, lakes, farms, and valleys. We got to drive around where some of the movie P.s I love you was filmed which I thought was pretty awesome because I love that movie. We saw the Blessington Lake from the retirement home balcony then went to Glendalough a settlement. After the tour guide talked about the place we were able to check out the lakes on our own and explore. It was nice because there were waterfalls, trees, just nature everywhere. I missed that. After this we headed to Avoca Mill where we ate lunch. At this mill they hand weave things, and sell them. We weren’t able to see them actually doing this because on the way to the Mill we had a detour because a huge tree fell in the middle of the road during the storm. After that tour we were pretty tiring and that night we went to a cool Irish pub called the Celt where it seemed to be the place to be on Sundays. It was nice. Oh my choice of drink in Ireland is not only Guinness but their Irish cider called Bulmers.

Monday we left Dublin again and went to a small town on the coast called Howth. It was of course rainy and windy but we were champs and still walked around. It was nice being near water. I felt like I was at the beach in Maine with the cool rocks though. Since we were near water we ate seafood for lunch. I had a crab claw, crab cake, and this crab on bread. It was pretty tasty but not as good as Maryland crabs of course. We were only there for a few hours, hopped back on the train to Dublin and got ready for the Pub Crawl we were doing that night. The pub crawl wasn’t that crowded and we met a lot of Australians while on the crawl, which was sick. We went to a couple pubs that night then a club where I danced danced danced as usual. Sunday we woke up at breakfast at the hostel, then went to the Guinness factory for a few hour since our flight wasn’t till 5 PM. That factory is awesome and 7 floors. They showed you how they make Guinness beer then give you a free pint of it at the top floor called the Gravity Bar, where you can see a wonderful view of Dublin.

After that we took a bus to the airport and headed back to Budapest. I loved Ireland but Idk that feeling of getting off the plane and being in being back in Budapest in the warmth was the absolute best. Plus at that point I had 2 days left till my 21st birthday! :D
